There's a star for everyone brightly shining in the sky

Our Thailand trip is drawing near and David and I are growing more anticipatory every millisecond. It's really quite convenient to be this close to all these exotic Asian/Southeast Asian countries and I'm grateful for the opportunities we have to explore. I honestly believe that when you walk around on another country's terrain you break pre-conceived ideas and learn about yourself at the same time.

It sounds ridiculous but we've already begun looking at tickets to Beijing and Tokyo, two places that are inexpensive to get to and on our must-see list. Like I said, I feel very grateful to have the means and the time for this opportunity.

Anyway, leaving for 2 weeks also has it's down side. I know that for non-pet owners it sounds ridiculous, but David and I are a mess over leaving our dear Goguma. You see, when we traveled to Brazil last year (I can't believe it's been a year) we had David's parents take care of Lamia and Constanze, which is where they are now, as well. It was difficult to leave them, but at the same time we knew they would be peachy because his parents are lovely people.

We were going to leave Goguma with a friend in Bucheon, but after buying tranquilizers that didn't work very well and not wanting to pay for a 100,000 Won taxi ride we decided it would be best to leave her at the pet hospital down the street. We've been there several times and they are so very nice (and even have an in-house cat (marble) and dog (granger) but still...poor Goguma.

I sound ridiculous, I know. I was lamenting to dear Amber Renee earlier today on AIM and she said something that was really quite profound, if you ask me. At least it made my heart settle a bit and left me feeling less discouraged. It was something to this affect:

"This is going to be a wonderful lesson for her! She will learn that she has a family that will come back to her every time."
How great is that? I love Amber Renee Garrison-Amick. This update is dedicated to Goguma (haha). :D Pictures, of course:

Two more blog updates before we leave, and then probably 1-2 from Thailand. Also note that throughout this year I'm blogging for Indianapolis' NUVO Newsweekly at:

Some pictures will be printed in the paper as they were when I ventured to Brazil! :D
