hug me slightly, melt my heart

I'm obsessed with this Korean song. David's favorite is "Rainism" aka "Bad Bad Boy" -- it's by Colbert's arch-nemesis, Rain and it's actually pretty risque...ha!

Anyway, I'm sipping on "Valentine" Tea right now - it's chocolate flavored and it has a big pink flower in the tea bag. Chocolate and flowers - happy heart day! :)

Things have been going really well recently. I'm getting more homesick than normal, but I expected that after being here for 3 months or so. It's hard to believe that David and I have lived here for 1/4 a year now. Sometimes I lay in bed worrying and missing home (especially this holiday season), but I'm soaking in all of the grandiose adventures. We called our good friend Amy on Skype video chat and talked for over an hour and it felt like we were home again. We also called Amber and Benjamin who reminded me that we'll be back in the USA sooner than we realize and everything will just be a memory. So true!

It has been kind of difficult planning our wedding from overseas, but we got most of the kinks out at home so things aren't too bad. Here's our wedding website if you're interested. The date is set for October 17, 2009 and we'll get hitched at Shalom Mennonite and then the reception will be at The Benton House (just minutes from our Indy apartment). No dinner will be served, just wine and dessert a la 18th century Europe, with a classical ensemble of sorts to accompany the festivities. The bridesmaids have the dress picked and the flowers arrangements are coming along (thanks to my grandmother who used to be a florist). We're still working on the men, but David has a pretty good idea of what he wants.

Our photographer is a friend of mine who is extremely talented. He works at NUVO Newsweekly, his name is Kris Arnold and he has taken some outstanding photographs of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Slayer, Mudvayne, Margot and the Nuclear So & So's, local owners of Indianapolis venues, etc. Here's his flickr - his style is exquisite and definitive.

Of course my dress is purchased as is the slip and bodice and I'm using David's mom's gorgeous veil from her wedding. As for shoes, I'm going to buy them while abroad - perhaps in South Korea, maybe in Thailand, maybe in China or Japan...who knows. They'll be fabulous no matter what!

Speaking of Thailand, we leave in 12 days and I'm mega ecstatic. We officially booked our tours - one's an elephant safari type deal, another is visiting the Buddhist Tiger Temple in Kanchanaburi. We're also doing a temple tour of all the major temples in Bangkok, including the Grand Palace/Emerald Buddha. Eeps! We've also got plans to visit Pattaya's Coral Island a few times -- I hear the view is gorgeous. There's soo much to do.

This blog has entirely too much text. Here are a few pictures for your enjoyment.

Last, but not least, I got my hair cut yesterday in Itaewon at a place called 'Green Turtle' salon. It was very inexpensive and right above a cafe that serves up some delicious coffee. Here are a few pics from that excursion:

The guy in the upper right corner did my hair!

And... the new, "asianified" hair.

I look atrocious due to lack of sleep, but the hair looks good, I think! :)

Adios!
