I miss singing. It's been way too long since my last voice lesson and I hate that I had to drop out of Indianapolis Opera Company to come to Korea. I had contacted this really nice gentlemen who gives voice lessons (and he's trained in opera) but he just lives too far from me to go nightly. My co-teacher said that she knew of a place in Hanam-si that gives voice lessons so I think I will look into that. I'm desperate! I miss just dropping everything and learning new music and playing the piano and warming up my voice...ahh! I'm going crazy.
Anyway, today we had a GEPIK (Gyeonngi English Program in Korea) workshop. Despite it taking nearly 2 hours to get there (it takes forever to get anywhere!) it was a blast! I love GEPIK workshops! You get to meet lots of foreigners from all over the world. Today I spoke with a gentlemen from Ireland which had me very excited because a)Irish accents are cool and b)He told me where to travel in Ireland when I go next year (he said you trip over castles there!). Also, I would just like to say that women from South Africa are extraordinarily beautiful. They have a very distinct look and are very exotic looking!
But yeah, the GEPIK workshop was good. I spent the entire day with Julia, her boyfriend who's visiting from Canada, and Shin who is the happiest person ever. I love them dearly - they're really positive people to be around and it's so nice to talk to someone experiencing the same thing as me! It feels like an extension of college almost - making new friends, being in a foreign place, wanting to experience as much as possible and perhaps have a few drinks... :)
In other news, tomorrow I teach 4th grade which should be interesting. I'm having them make Christmas cards! I thought about doing paper snowflakes but opted against that when I envisioned 35 children in one room with a bunch of scissors. I also envisioned massive amounts of paper thrown around in the air like confetti. Eeps! I love love love my fourth graders, but they wear me out! This will be my last time teaching this years 4th grade classes. Crazy!
Christmas is next weekend. Hoorah! I received a package in the mail from my grandma. David and I haven't opened it yet but we're dying to see what's inside! I love getting things from home. We mailed out our packages to loved ones a few weeks ago and everyone has received them. We sent stuff back to our families and also to Amy/Kyle and Amber/Ben. I also sent out an assortment of Christmas cards which were absolutely the cutest things ever.
David and I leave for Bangkok, Thailand in 1 month! YIPEE!! We have a few more things planned - like a trip to a northern park where we'll meet elephants and other wild animals. We're also planning to visit temples (duh) and some authentic markets. Oh, and I want to get a traditional Thai massage - can't wait! Anyone who wants a postcard, send your addy to wendyrgould@yahoo.com.
That's about it for now. This weekend I plan on getting my hair cut in Itaewon and David and I might get some Mexican food out there (which I've been craving hardcore). There's also plans of climbing a mountain, but that depends on how I'm feeling! :)
I'll leave you with a few random pictures...
